We ask for very little. A name, an email address and a message, so that we can write back. This page sets out exactly what happens to it.
01Who is responsible for your information
Shish Meze, 2 Berther Road, Hornchurch, Essex RM11 3HS, is the data controller for the personal information described here. That means we decide what is collected and why.

02What we collect
When you send an enquiry
The form on our home page collects your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your message. It reaches us as an email. Nothing is stored in a database on this website.
When you simply visit
Our host records standard server logs, which include your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser type. We also count requests per IP address for a short period so that the enquiry form cannot be flooded with spam. That count is held in memory only and disappears on its own.
What we do not do
- This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking scripts. See our Cookie Notice.
- There are no accounts, no logins and no profiles.
- We do not buy, sell or rent personal information, and we do not build marketing lists from website visitors.
03Why we use it, and on what basis
Under UK GDPR we have to tell you our lawful basis for each use. Ours are short.
- To answer your enquiry. Legitimate interests: you wrote to us and expect a reply. Where your message is about a booking, we also use it to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To keep the site working and safe. Legitimate interests: server logs and the spam limit protect the site and our inbox from abuse.
- To meet our legal duties. Where the law requires us to keep or disclose something, for example to food safety or licensing authorities.
We do not use your details to market to you. If you write to ask about a birthday table, you will hear back about the table and nothing else.
05Information that leaves the UK
Vercel, Resend, Meta and Google are based in the United States and may process information there or elsewhere. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK extension to the EU standard contractual clauses.
06How long we keep it
- Enquiries: kept for up to 24 months so we can pick up the thread if you write again, then deleted.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our host for security and diagnostics, then deleted automatically.
- The spam count: held in memory for an hour at most.
Where the law sets a longer period, for example for tax or food safety records, we follow it.
07Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit what we do with it;
- hand it over in a portable form;
- stop relying on legitimate interests, by objecting to that use.
Write to info@shishmeze.com and we will reply within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand your information to somebody else.
08Children
This website is meant for adults booking a table. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us something through the form, tell us and we will delete it.
09Changes to this notice
If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top will tell you when. If a change matters to you, we will make it obvious rather than quietly editing the text.
10If you are unhappy
Tell us first, at info@shishmeze.com, and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
